FAQs
WHY ARE YOUR SHOES NOT AVAILABLE IN SIZE 3?
…loads of factors go into the decision on what sizes to manufacture. As much as we would love to make shoes from size 2 to 10 or 11, the costs to do this would be so high (for tools, knives & lasts) that the retail price of the shoe would be unobtainable to most. The need for larger sizes (9 and 10) is much higher. We do have size 3 shoes available, and we are looking into manufacturing a wider variety of size 3's. Please bear with us xxx
WHY ARE YOUR SHOES SO EXPENSIVE?
…please consider that whilst components like soles, insoles and heels are locally produced, the materials for these as well as the leather we use is imported, and paid for in US Dollars (and we have done our homework on local leather, but the quality leather we use to make our quality shoes is not available locally). Each pair of shoes is worked on by approximately 300 pairs of hands in our factory. We support local, and labour in South Africa is much more expensive then labour in China. Added to this the increasing water and electricity costs also impacts on producing the quality shoes we have become so well known for.
WHY ARE OUR SHOES NOT MARKED DOWN IN THE SALE MORE?
Froggie is a brand that has various costs associated with the production of each product we manufacture and sell, for example wages, rent, municipal, leather, soles etc when we decide to mark a product down all these costs still need to be covered, they do not go away. We do not mark our products up to include the costs of markdown as the major chains do. We usually mark down the end of season and when we do not have all the sizes in stock.
We support local, and labour in South Africa is much more expensive then labour in imports.
HOW DO I CLEAN MY SHOES?
… we have a combination cleaner, which cleans leather and synthetic. It is available in store and online at www.froggie.co.za. Spray on and leave for a few minutes and brush off. For a stubborn mark, use a damp cloth with the combo cleaner sprayed on, and wipe gently. Do not to submerge your shoes in water or use a lot of water. The Colby Protector is also good to use when you first purchase your shoes as it is a like Scotchguard for shoes.

WHY CANT I FIND THESE SHOES IN A STORE NEAR ME?
… our actual Froggie stores are only based in Durban and Online. So we rely on independent stockists nationwide to carry our shoes across the country. Because these stockists are all independent, it is up to them which styles, sizes and colours they order from us. If you are not able to find a particular style at a store near you, please can you shop at our online store at www.froggie.co.za xx
THE SOLES OF MY SHOES HAVE CRUMBLED?
… unfortunately shoe manufacturers have no option but to use polyurethane (PU) for certain designs of soles as there are only a few different materials available. We do prefer to use a thermoplastic rubber (TR) where ever possible which does not react in this way, but TR is heavy and where a thicker sole is needed we are forced to use PU which is lighter and does not wear down if used regularly. We do put a disclaimer onto our products where a PU sole is used, because if they are left unworn for long periods of time they will start to break up. The PU is a very light and hard wearing material but has to be worn to keep the moisture content correct. Hopefully, in the near future, a better compound will be available. This is a problem for all shoe manufacturers around the world.
