CARE GUIDE

TAKE CARE. LIVE LONG.

BELOW IS A GUIDE TO ASSIST YOU IN KEEPING YOUR FOOTWEAR LOOKING GREAT!

LEATHER FOR LIFE.

Taking care of leather shoes extends their lifespan.
The beauty of leather lies in its natural, organic quality - and for some styles,
ageing only adds to their charm. Alternately, if you prefer the “out of the box” look,
this can be achieved using different products and techniques.

PROTECT your leather shoes/boots with a leather protector. We recommend our invisible
leather protector spray which protects the leather from penetration of water and oil.

REMOVING DIRT is the ultimate care you can give your shoes. You can do this by
simply wiping them with a soft brush or slightly damp (not wet) cloth. If this does not lift the dirt, then our Combination cleaner is a fantastic product.

DO NOT SOAK. Leather does not enjoy being submerged in water so never soak or put them in a washing machine. If they do get wet when you’re out and about, leave them to dry naturally. It’s best to avoid heat or strong sunlight.

FEED YOUR LEATHER SHOES. This will nourish and clean them. We have a range of products to feed your leather shoes. Our Leather lotion and Boot food is a great neutral colour product that will nourish your shoes. When you need a good old-fashioned polish, if possible, choose a colour that matches your shoe. The pigment colour will fill your scuff marks and help reduce their appearance.

DON’T WEAR YOUR SHOES/BOOTS EVERY DAY. This is hugely important. When you wear your shoes, your feet sweat. Even if you don’t feel it. All this extra moisture is transferred to your shoes. This, coupled with the pounding they take from walking around all day, puts your leather shoe in a compromised position. Try to give your shoes a day off to let them air dry if you can bare not wear them! We recommend at least 24 hours, and 48 is even better.

DEBUNK THE SUEDE MYTH.
Many people think that suede and nubuck are delicate
and easy to ruin so they opt for a leather version.
While this is true for synthetic/faux suede, our high-quality genuine leather suede is robust. It can take
a beating and bounce back like Rocky. The key to wearing suede shoes successfully is in the care.
Cleaning suede is simple, and the reward of this luxurious material is worth the effort.
That is why suede is one of our favourite materials to design with at Froggie.

PROTECT your suede shoes/boots with a leather protector. We recommend our invisible
leather protector spray which protects the leather from penetration of water and oil. This is a crucial step for suede.

SET YOURSELF UP FOR SUCESS. It’s really helpful to have the right gear to look after suede/nubuck products. We recommend our Suede combination brush and Shoe shampoo. That’s it. No washing, no vinegar, no chemicals, no alcohol.

A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE
Start with dry cleaning. This will help get rid of things such as surface dust and dirt or a scuff mark here and there. Give your shoes a thorough brushing with your suede brush. This will remove dirt and help align the nap (sometimes called suede fibre) of the shoe.

1 Use suede leather soap: Specially formulated for cleaning suede.
2 Wet your suede cleaning brush: With water and add soap or cleaning solution.
3 Gently wash the suede section: Using a back-and-forth or circular motion, with light to medium pressure.
4 Focus on tough stains: Including salt stains.
5 Wipe the damp cloth to remove excess soap.
6 Dry naturally: Out of direct sunlight or heat.
7 Assist drying with a microfiber cloth: Pat dry with a twisting motion.
Remember to avoid using hot water and never use the brush on smooth leather sections.
